I personally do not believe in diets as they stand. I promote to my clients, over many years simply make a few small changes here and there, tweak fluid intake too such as I ask how much water are they drinking as this does help to lose weight as simple as it sounds.
The key is that our healthy eating habits are practical and sustainable so that they simply become a way of life and not having to ‘stick’ to a diet regime or a dull food plan. It has been found in many studies making small adjustments to our eating habits encourages weight loss for those who have weight to lose or for the majority who want to achieve a healthier way of eating without giving up treats.
Yogurt was recently identified as a top weight-loss-promoting food by Harvard University as it is high in protein, which, gram for gram, helps fill you up more than carbs.
Sticking to a plain low-fat or nonfat yogurt for a healthy snack without extra sugar or saturated fat also an added bonus the probiotics in yogurt may help you burn fat and to ensure your yogurt delivers a good amount of probiotics look for one that carries the Live & Active Cultures seal.
We all know this one! Water water water! Drinking 2 cups of water before eating a meal can help you lose weight as the water helps you feel full sooner, so you eat less and in turn weigh less. It cleanses our digestive system and aids the elimination of toxin build up from any un healthy foods absorbed in our system.
Water keeps our skin hydrated and promotes healthy anti ageing by reducing fine lines around the eyes keeping the skin pumped. We do not have to depend upon expensive facial products or body products to hydrate the skin.
Healthy anti ageing and wellness begins with keeping ourselves hydrated 6-8 glasses of water every day. Chilled water from the fridge can be infused gently with a slice of lemon, good for colon and liver cleansing, or lime, a few chunks of fresh pineapple or water melon give a fresh fruity flavour for those who find it difficult drinking water. Green tea is high in anti oxidants a perfect hydration drink hot or cold.
Having a revamp of the kitchen cupboards is the same as a wardrobe revamp, spring clean and make shopping fun again, look for ingredients that you would not normally use, try the different nationality ingredient shelves. I love Turkish grilled fish and chicken with salad and a small side dish of plain rice, I have learnt how the Turkish chefs marinade the chicken and I can now make it at home myself. I make my own Saturday night healthy takeaway.
Little shifts in eating habits can elevate your mood by simply looking forward to the shopping and cooking of new exciting dishes and making healthier choices. Live a long and healthy life! Live a fun life! Live a healthy life of wellness.
